Why Buy A Sony Playstation?

Long gone are those times when the flatness and basic graphics of Pac Man came to existence in the 1980's. Today the gaming console has made major breakthroughs in gaming. A look at the Sony Playstation may just seem like a black box, but there is so much benefit to buying a Sony Playstation.

If you don't have much recollection of the 1980's, thinking about what kind of games were available and the consoles around you may not remember them. The 1980's had so few gaming consoles. There was the Atari's with there cartridge games. There was those Commodore 64's. There was also a lot of other type of consoles, but a lot of them you had to make yourself! This was not like a Mechano kit, it took some understanding. And to further that, there were a limited range of games.

Nintendo came in and demolished the competition. Here you had the original Nintendo gaming system, and after a few years in came the SNES. Games improved and were great; however, the games only resembled the arcade genre. Though it was great to have, and you did not have to go to the arcade to play, it just couldn't catch up to what was happening with the computers being released.

Sony has always been an innovator of technology. Sony brought us the Walkman, which Sony invented. Looking at today, the iPod is based on the Walkman and its portability. When Sony said they were releasing a gaming console which would be like having a PC, but with supreme graphics, a lot of people wanted one.

The PS1 was released and became an instant hit, as I am sure you are aware. Selling 100's of millions of units worldwide is the major reason games companies have produced games for the Sony PlayStation. However, this was not enough. The computers available were getting faster.

In came PS2 and this made major breakthroughs in graphics. Finally we now have the Sony PlayStation 3 or PS3. This gaming console is more like a PC than any other Sony PlayStation that came before. A PS3 has many features that make it worth buying.

For example with gaming, there are thousands of games available for the Sony PlayStation, and the backward compatibility is great at allowing you to play existing games on.

The Sony PlayStation 3 also allows you to play online with multiplayer. So, even if it is 3am in the morning, and you don't have anyone to play with, you can put the game on and play online! This feature really makes the Sony PlayStation a great feature to have. You don't have to go to your PC only to play games online.

Even if you are not a major game buff, a Sony PlayStation 3 can be beneficial in many other ways. You can play DVD movies, and also play your CD's on the PS3. The PlayStation can be considered an entertainment device rather than a gaming console anymore.

Sony has put a lot of effort into producing an entertainment device which meets the needs of people in these changing times. With the amount of games and the features available, the Sony PlayStation can go great as part of a home theatre system.

What they said... honestly i've been a nintendo fan since the NES ( about 16y ago ). I mean i've played playstation games if there were good ( god of war, GTA etc ) but every since the ps1 and the n64 came out.. sony's been copying nintendo.

If you've ever watched E3... you'll notice Nintendo will ALWAYS be last.. because they know sony will "borrow" some ideas.

Ok N64 came out and had joystick... look at the first ps1 controllers... NO JOYSTICK... So sony recalled and made the dual shock.

Gamecube came out and had some online ( though crappy ) so sony decides to.. then here comes microsoft to dominate them both.

Gameboy was doing so well.. they decided for the psp. LOL the psp even today could not even come close to the sales.. its a poor system. I mean up untill this year the DS was litterally beating the psp AND the ps3 in sales combined!

Then here comes the Wii... They waited till the last day to show it. Sony realized there boomerang controller was dumb and re-did it.. oh and through in six-axis to compete with nintendo's motion controll.... ya thats doing well.

So why not just copy the WHOLE thing and call it ours? Lol the sony wand, or sony mote, whatever you wanna call it.. its just copying.

At least Microsoft goes different and gets rid of controllers COMPLETELY! I mean there copying... but not just straight ripping off right?

There's alot more sony copied.. and failed at... but hey Nintendo is still beating them everytime.

Gran Turismo type game- Gamecube?

I had an "early adopter" experience on GT when version 2 game out on Playstation 8 years ago or so and I was staying at a friend's house. Just about couldn't go to bed. Just about got fired the next day. Anyway, if it's not obvious from the question, we are not a gaming family but my son got a Gamecube hand-me-down from his cousins when they graduated to a Wii. I was telling him how cool the game was.. and how we could race each other... and... come to find out they don't cross-platform the game and it's only a Sony platform game. No Nintendo version available. Sonofa!

So- is there a similar, older, car racing title available on the Nintendo platform? Obviously don't need anything fancy or "career" minded... just something we can race against each other with (with cool graphics) and is older and hence available used and cheap.

Perhaps the Burnout series would be what you are looking for. There are several games that are from the early 2000's, but the graphics aren't anything special. They aren't bad, but the Gamecube didn't necessarily have all that great of graphics. No offense, just saying...

American Prices?

I live in Australia, and im going to America at the end of the year, and i was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me the price of:

1) Nintendo Wii
2) Nintendo DS
3) Playstation Portable (PSP)

and not the prices from another country converted into american dollars, cause it wont be the right price.

Or even the websites where i would be able to find out because they dont show prices on nintendo.com and playstation.com.

what compare of PlayStation 3 and xbox 360?

im kind of stuck between of PlayStation and xbox 360 because i was research of website. both have a many feature and good video game. i did ask all of my friend. they said better playstation 3 or xbox 360but i cant choose one so i hope this question will help me more information. thanks.

I will just copy and paste my answer from another one of the same questions:

PS3 is better if:
You can afford it
You want to download/watch movies/TV
You want to surf the internet on it
You don't want to pay for online
You have friends that have PS3 online
You like the PS3's game selection better
You like the look of the PS3 better
You like a simple interface
You like the controller better
You like Playstation Home (haha)
BASICALLY if you want to use it as a computer or media center
etc.

Xbox 360 is better if:
You like the game selection better
You can't afford the PS3
You plan on getting a bigger hard drive
You don't mind paying extra for online
You have friends that use/play xbox live
You want to play with others online who have mics
You like the console/controller better
You like the little, rather pointless community features (avatars, star rating, etc.)

Problems with the xbox 360:
It's cheaper because many of the things that the PS3 has built in are sold seperatly for the 360

It costs $50 per year to play online

Microphones are mainly used [online] to shout racial slurs and cuss words instead of stratigizing because people can't take losing...

The offset analog sticks on the controller are uncomfortable (IMO)

The 360 is quite loud when in use

Problems with the PS3:
Sometimes with games on both the 360 and PS3 the 360 will get more support and/or downloadable content

The online store is not quite as large as the xbox store

Controller batteries cannot be replaced or removed for charging

I MUCH prefer the PS3. It's easier, stronger, and does more.
