3-d technology is growing at a rapid pace, so much so, that seemingly impossible things are becoming a reality of today. Whether it is about reconstructing a prosthetic nose in an accident victim or using latest 3-d scanning technology involving heat to replicate specular and transparent objects, the possibilities are amazing and limitless.

3-d printing the new rage

This is not science fiction but a reality made possible with 3-d printers. Modern 3-d printing technology has become so advanced yet affordable that now, it is possible for even small businesses to generate prototype models and life like models to test feasibility in the market. What’s more, these models are made of fine-grade plastic, which can be sculpted, cut or even painted to provide an entirely new look.

3-d scanning and latest trends

A 3-d scanner works by analyzing an object in the real world, understanding aspects like dimension, color, schematics etc. and then using this data to replicate the object through a 3-d model. The most common application of 3-d scanning technology happens to be in video games as well as in movies, where storyboard ideas are brought to life with these photorealistic representations in 3-d. Many of the modern 3-d scanners use intense heat to scan extremely transparent objects successfully. Since light does not reflect uniformly from such surfaces, heat is the best way to detect surface points and dimensions of such objects. What is amazing is that with 3-d scanning technology, you could even transform real world objects into 3-d computer models.

3-d modeling as an art

3-d modeling is an art form because you are essentially creating a framework for a new object from scratch. Most animation and computer graphics teams use 3-d modeling software on a consistent basis. You could either choose to use manual or automated 3-d modeling technology to create life like objects replicating real world items. Using such a technology, specific space points are marked with lines, rectangles, triangles etc. to create a support or framework for the finished model. These 3-d models can further be represented either through solid formats or through boundaries or shells. In the case of solid 3-d models, the entire object is seen just like the real life object. In the case of shell 3-d models, only the outer casing or shell is seen.

The future

As the line between reality and what you see on your computer gets blurred, clearly the future of 3-d technologies is brighter than ever before. Right from its usage in archaeology to trace back fossils or bone structures to the use of 3-d technology in prosthetics or complex surgeries, there are many more applications, which are yet unseen. It is probably just a matter of time before we see a child ‘print’ out their favorite snack from their PC and eat it!

What's the police driving arcade game from the 90s that looked like Cruisin USA? I played it in Chuck E Cheese?

I remember playing this game back when I was a kid, around the early to mid 90s. It was a sit down racing/driving game where you drove a police car. At the beginning, you could choose from two different cars, an old police car and a new one and each had different attributes. I remember in one of the early levels you had to drive through a toll booth and over a bridge. I think it came out before Cruisin' USA, but if I recall correctly, it looked a lot like it. At the Chuck E Cheese where I played it, there were two sit down consoles side by side. One player would be the blue car and the other would be the red one. Does anybody know what game this is?

What are the two steps of making a PCB/printed circuit board?

I mean the two first steps?

first you have to lay the board out using some sort of software (this used to be done by hand using black tape and acetone sheets).

next a photochemical resist is applied to the bare copper board and the PCB pattern is exposed onto the board.

Next the board is etched using acid to remove those areas of copper not wanted.

After, there are drilling, plating, routing, solder mask, silkscreen. Plus lamination if more than 2 layers.

I recently serviced someones gate and I replaced parts and the check he gave bounced. Can I take the parts back out and replace them with the original parts that was on the gate?

You must take them to small claims or to collection agency for failure to pay. Any good lawyer will tell you this. BOUNCING checks "on purpose" is a CRIME. If they fail to make it good they can be arrested.

How mutch is this pinball table worth:?

BASIC INFORMATION:
Rescue 911 Table by Gottlieb (1994).

GAMEPLAY DEFECTIONS:
Less than five lights out on playfield
Small crack in glass above playfield
Helecopter does not move, therefore it does not pick up balls or drop them.

ARCADE DEFECTIONS:
Left Coin Slot does not work
Coin mechanism gets jammed frequently
You don't always hear a tap when you earn a replay

By the way:
Lights out on the playfield -- trivial. Replace them, less than $1 each.
Playfield glass cracked: Replace it before it shatters into thousands of pieces and becomes a pain to clean-up. Perhaps $40.
Coin mechanisms can be cleaned; if that doesn't fix it, replace it. Good used ones can be had for under $20.
The "tap" when you earn a replay is the "knocker" unit. If it works intermittently, look for a loose wire or a solder joint that needs to be re-flowed.

Do they sell such PCB cards?

I am only asking as a novice. I haven't much idea what I am looking for.

Do they sell a PCB card with a socket that allows you to insert a chip in it for you to use your chip? After that, you insert the card into the PCI slot in your PC to use the chip?

For example, if you have burnt a program in a chip, can you just take the chip and insert it into the PCB card and use it? The card will be inserted in the PCI card slot first.

Do such boards exist?

Sorry if my question sounds ridiculous. I have no idea what I am really asking.

If you are speaking of onboard memory, most manufacturers hard wire their memory chips onto the board, if they let consumers add additional memory to those cards, they would not be able to sell you an upgrade a couple of years later when they came out with new models, thus severely limiting their profits
